Divorce: Until the divorce is final, how do I meantime get back money and valuables that have been taken?

I have signed divorce papers and the separation / divorce papers will be served to my husband next week. He has been physically abusive for 15 years and verbally abusive for the last 8 years. I have been married for 23 years and worked different jobs that entire time as well as jointly raised our 3 girls. My husband has taken all of our joint bank accounts (cash and CDs) and put them somewhere else.

I have no money to pay my bills, other than the small amt I make from my job b/c I am also going to school to finish up an upgraded dental certification by January 2008. However, until the divorce is final, how can I get some of that money? He has also taken all my jewelry, which I could have hocked for some money.

You need to have your attorney to have a temporary hearing and get you the money you need., you need to bring your bank statements, deposit slips (when you bought CD's) and any receipts you might have for jewelry. He should be able to set this up with the judge that will be handling the divorce. I would also bring school records for your certificate. If he has an attorney, your attorney can set this up with the court clerk. Then you, your husband, your attorney and his attorney(if he has one) would have to be present. Good luck and best wishes.
Reply:Talk to him. Tell him that you need money.
Reply:Well, if your attorney arrange to put a freeze on all the accounts yet, then you've got the wrong attorney. If you need to ask Yahoo people what to do AFTER you have hired an attorney, then you are in deep trouble, girl!
