Have been at Comfort Inn as a desk agent for the last 14 months. There is no room for advancement at this comfort Inn.

In march I will be done with a business management certification as a business support specialist. I currently get paid at 9.25 an hour in maryland and I'm sure I could get paid more.

For advancement, getting paid more, and training opportunities, what should I do next?

Have you considered working in sales in a major hotel?
Reply:Las Vegas Concierge. Or check-in clerk. Try the Hilton hotel.

www.openvegas.com I think that is a well planned web site.
Reply:Hello Sara,

From some of the other questions you have asked, I'm going to assume that you are under 24 years of age. If I am correct, this is a time in your life where you need to ask yourself, Where do I want to be in 10 years? Believe me 10 years will fly by in a heartbeat and If your haven't determined a solid course for your life then in ten years you will more or less be in a similar situation that you are in now, but 10 years older, and that does not look good on any resume. As far as a business management "Certificate", thats about as useless as the paper it's written on. In todays economy, even an Associates Degree in Business will only get you a shift manager position at McDonald's. The word for today is "specialization". Set yourself apart from the pack. God has given you a special ability that very few might have, ask him, and he will show it to you. I wish you God's blessing, and Good Hunting!
Reply:Look for admin assistant and office manager positions. In my opinion that is the next step up. Check with local unemployment offices and temp agencies (stick with the larger ones such as snelling, manpower, and officeteam).

Good Luck!
Reply:If you have excellent customer service skills, why not move onto a major hotel? Major hotels appreciate their people with people-oriented skills and there is room for advancement, plus benefits like educational reinbursement. Stop wasting your time at little hotels and simple simon stores. Think of the hotels in Las Vegas, and you running a department in one of them. YEAH!
